Floor Time Strategies - From Crawling to Walking
We will learn and practice developmentally appropriate strategies for helping your baby master crawling through walking and everything in between! Depending on the abilities of the babies present, we may spend more or less time in some of these areas – pre-crawling, crawling, supported standing, supported transitions, walking with support, and walking independently. We will also incorporate developmentally appropriate toys and play as our babies’ growing brains are ready for more and more. Along the way, we will talk about the importance of each milestone, modifications to each strategy, how to incorporate strategies into your daily routines, and well, anything else that comes up around our babies’ development!
You will come out of this class with new skills and knowledge to implement at home and a greater understanding of your baby’s development and upcoming development. Through practice of these strategies, you will help your baby increase strength, prevent missed milestones and atypical development, and improve gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, self-help, communication, and social development.
What to bring:
- Favorite toy
- (Optional) Shoes - if your baby has already mastered crawling
- Dress yourself comfortably, as we may be moving around the room and *sitting on carpet/mats (chairs are available if needed)
