Nursing while Employed: How Do I Make it Work?!?
Leaving your wee one in the care of others while returning to the workforce is a challenging transition for many parents. In this class, we will talk about what will help ensure a successful transition for all involved. During our time together, we will cover strategies for maintaining the nursing relationship, as well as the basics of pumping, milk storage, adequate milk supply, what to expect from your body, and the legal obligations of employers in regard to nursing parents who need to pump.
"From the first time we talked, Jen put me at ease with her warm, outgoing manner. She took the time to listen to me, answer my many questions, and educate me around what to expect."
Jen has a BS in Human Development and discovered her passion for caring for others early in life. She spent several years each in the fields of medical office management and Early Childhood Education, always with an eye toward eventually becoming a birthworker. She loves supporting families as they find their way through the maze of birth and early parenting, so becoming a birth (certified through both DONA and PALS) and postpartum doula was a natural fit for her. She is also a Certified Lactation Educator, having trained with Evergreen Perinatal Education in February of 2017.
Jen is also: Mama to 3 smart, funny, and interesting teenagers; partner to a kind, gentle, brilliant husband; snuggler of 2 dogs; urban chicken farmer; organic gardener; reader of literary fiction; karaoke dance-party starter; gourmet camper; wannabe yogi; tiny-portion foodie; family COO/CEO/CFO; food bank volunteer; builder of both community and structures; bourbon and beer snob; daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, friend; lover of life; traveler; adventurer.
